Alabama state capitol building photographs, [185-]-1990.

Photographs, c.1851-c.1990, depict the capitol building. There are 449 photos in this collection, including exterior views covering the years 1851-1990, n.d.; interior views including those of the rotunda and west front stairs, the Senate Chamber, Supreme Court Chamber and Supreme Court library; and photos of the south wing and capitol complex. Of special interest are photographs of State legislators standing outside and inside the capitol, various dedication ceremonies, views of the state archives within the capitol building, Archives Directors Thomas Owen and Milo Howard, Supreme Court Librarian Junius Riggs, the lying in state of Jefferson Davis in the Supreme Court Chamber in 1893, and the lying in state of Hilary Herbert, 1919, Secretary of the U. S. Navy.
